WordPress plugin

Desorix Chat Button puts the chat button on a WordPress site without editing the theme. It ships in the CodeCanyon package as desorix-chat-button-<version>.zip (in the wordpress folder). It works in two modes.

  • Click-to-chat (on its own): enter a WhatsApp number (country code, digits only), the button text, window title, greeting, prefilled message, colour and position. No Desorix needed; there's no attribution.
  • Connected to Desorix: enter the Desorix address and Widget key (both shown under Website widget in Desorix; see Website chat widget) and click Test connection. The button then uses everything set in Desorix: number, texts, business hours, attribution, tag and assignee. The plugin's own button settings are ignored.

Install

  1. In WordPress: Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the zip, Install Now, Activate.
  2. Open Settings → Chat Button.
  3. Choose a mode (see above) and tick Show the WhatsApp button on my site.
  4. Optional: Where to show it. Choose all pages, all except the listed ones, or only the listed ones. List one path per line, for example /contact or /shop/*.
  5. Save.

Test connection

It fetches the widget settings from Desorix the way a visitor's browser would, and says what's wrong:

  • Could not reach Desorix: the address is wrong, or the server is down.
  • The Desorix address must be a public web address: WordPress refuses to test private addresses (such as 192.168.x.x or localhost). Visitors can't reach those either.
  • The widget is off, the key is wrong, or this site is not in Allowed websites: check Website widget in Desorix.

How it's built

  • The plugin carries its own copy of the widget script (readable, GPL). In connected mode it only fetches settings (JSON) from Desorix and never loads code from it. wordpress.org requires this.
  • No jQuery and no other libraries. The script is loaded asynchronously in the footer.
  • Uninstalling the plugin deletes its settings.
